📈 The Week Ahead (November 13th, 2025): Market Insights from HPK Provident Advisors
Market movements are never short of fascinating. On news that the Senate would likely vote to reopen the government, equity markets rallied. Personally, I found the move somewhat questionable, considering that the longest shutdown in U.S. history had little lasting effect on stocks. Then, once the measure passed the House and reached the President’s desk, the S&P 500 sold off sharply.
The narrative behind Thursday’s sell-off centers on the upcoming wave of economic data—which, based on early indicators, might not paint an optimistic picture. Given the recent Challenger job cuts report and weak ADP numbers, that concern may be justified.
Markets also appear increasingly wary of the AI trade. “Perma-bull” Michael Burry made headlines this week by flagging questionable accounting practices among major AI stocks. He then announced the closure of his hedge fund today. Was that closure due to years of bearish positioning, or is he exiting at the top—much like he did before the housing market collapse? Burry has hinted at an announcement on November 25th, so perhaps he’s preparing to launch a new investment vehicle.
The S&P 500’s attempt at a weekly rally was erased by Thursday’s decline, threatening to fill a small gap left from last Friday’s close. While a pullback seems warranted, we’re watching price action closely to gain stronger conviction. A break below the November 7th opening level could signal further downside. Still, multiple support levels remain that could attract buyers. Should we see a 4–8% pullback, we’ll be looking for new entry opportunities—unless the economic backdrop weakens further.
